Je.ja.l.an is a dance-theatre and theatre of images performance about the contradictions and contestations taking place in the cities streets life in  Indonesia. The (harsh) contradictions and contestations between the modern and the traditional (of the world’s views and ways of life), between the cosmopolite and the countrified, the elite and the common, the dominant and the marginal, the noble and the two-bit, and a line of many other contradictions as can found in third-world countries.

Je.ja.l.an was being researched and composed by a creative team of nationally and internationally experienced artists. Initiated and directed by Teater Garasi’s Artistic Director, Yudi Ahmad Tajudin in collaboration with Sri Qadariatin, Citra Pratiwi, Jamaluddin Latif, Erythrina Baskorowati, Theodorus Christanto, Bernadeta Verry Handayani, Bahrul Ulum, and with Mella Jaarsma (visual artist),  Ignatius Sugiarto (lighting designer), Risky Summerbee & the Honeythief (musicians).
