qomarMuhammad Nur Qomaruddin was aspiring young actor who diligently attended Teater Garasi’s acting courses and passed the advance class with distinction (2006 – 2009) before he became one of Teater Garasi’s resident artists. He ventured first steps working for Teater Garasi’s productions in Domba-domba Revolusi (2007) and Bocah Bajang (2009) directed by Gunawan Maryanto. His maturing ability in realistic acting style was seen as Trigorin in Camar (Indonesian version of Anton Chekov’s The Seagull) directed by Corrina Manara, a Dutch artist-in-residence of Teater Garasi (2008). His flexibility, strength and delicacy in playing range of characters is further evidence in Goyang Penasaran directed by Naomi Srikandi (2011). His collaborations with coreographer Fitri Setyaningsih in Selamat Datang dari Bawah, director Naomi Srikandi in Medea Media (2010), and further with Yudi Ahmad Tajudin in After The Voices #1 (2014) show his remarkable talent to result any possible forms and styles of performance work. While Qomar is one of the frequent dramatic readers in the annual Indonesia Dramatic Reading Festival, he also serves as initiator and coordinator in Teater Garasi’s Performer Studio and Lab activities. Qomar was artist-in-residence in Cheunchen, South Korea (2012) and working with coreographer Arco Renz for a collaboration with dancers in Padang Panjang co-missioned by Indonesia Dance Festival (2014).
