Rain Repertoire

Rain Repertoire is a 45 minutes performance that based on the actors’ body as its main mode of expression. The performance departed from a question: how depth is the body could express what is happening inside.

This performance explored short poems, which were unfinished poems. From those partial phrases, the actors with the whole instruments of the body tried to interpret and continue the writing of the poems on stage. The entire unfinished poems depart from personal experiences on rain: the fears, the anxieties, and the nostalgias presented by the rain season.

In format, this performance explored some existing traditional body-based arts: one of martial arts called “Bangau Putih” (white egret), Javanese dance, and Butoh (Japanese dance).

Since its early performances, Rain Repertoire was set for compact touring with 30 times performances traveling through Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Surakarta, Bandung, Surabaya and Tokyo.
