So. For tonight X will be just X. Whatever it may be. Wherever it may be. Maybe.. X may not even be X for tonight. It depends. We’re not seeking for answers. We’re seeking for questions. So that we don’t have to assume that X is anything. It’s whatever. Wherever.
Friday 22 May. My plane arrives in Yogyakarta. Excitement and nerves fill my body and I whisper the words ‘I’m ready!’. I, son of an Indonesian father and a Dutch mother, am searching. Days go by. I observe.
Friday 18 June. I have a conversation and something pops up. It starts as a question, then an irritation and finally recognition. A gap. A gap that defines me more than I would like. I wonder, what do you get when you mix green and red? Do you recognize it as a colour? Or is it just a dark substance?
Friday 3 July. No answers. Just questions.
